This is some of what I listen to
 while creating my works.
(in no particular order)

Algorithm (instrumentals) Banana Clip Vol.3
ALGORITHM!!!!!!
(you'll get it if you get the album. GET IT!)

Jhelisa
(Language Electric)
Awesome neo-jazz album.

Cesaria Evora
(really only specific
 songs by her)
<Petit Pays & Sodade being two of them.>

Anjali (Anjali)
Anjali
(The world of lady A)
two good "acid jazz" albums

El Pus
(Strange Cowboys)
cool music. genreless.
I also own an unreleased fallow up album.
 Unfortunate for you guys, it
 will probably never be released.

James Hardway
 (A positive sweat)
good album that  mixes jazz with D&B and Jungle beats.

Fat Jon
the ample soul physician
(Lightweight Heavy)
great Hip Hop instrumentals.

Sade
 (The best of Sade)
good mix of hits.

Pennywise (Full circle)
good punk. smart punk.

Jefferson Airplane
(Surrealistic Pillow)
White Rabbit is the shit! Go ask Alice.

The Baby Namboos (ANCOATS2ZAMBIA)
Cool garage like "trip hop."

Mr. Ozio (Analog worms attack)
I have to admit this album doesn't effect me the same way it used to especially since nowadays I can easilly replicate the sound of this album. But still it's good.

Jay Dee
(The official instrumental series) Vol.1 & 2
Basic straight foward rhyming beats.
w/o the rhymes.

Les Nubians (Princesses Nubiennes)
French-African neo-jazz.

Zap Mama
(A Ma Zone)
It's a silly album name (I think) but a very good Afro-Brazilian upbeat album. I can't think of what music genre to put it under.

311 (Grassroots)
classic 311 pre-MTV

Tricky (Maxinquaye)
If you have yet to hear this album, "sigh"...
you have no excuse.

Tchaikovsky  (certain songs)
I soddin' hate the Nutcracker suite!

D.J. Krush
(Mieso, Milight, Kakusei)
Great Japanese Hip Hop
( I prefer the instr. to the beats with lyricist)

Prefuse 73
(Vocal studies + uprock narritives,
The '92 vs. '02 collection)
A local kat who does hip hop justice.

Beethoven (certain songs)
relax.

Beastie Boys
(The In Sound From Way Out!)
great collection of BB instrumentals.

Gorillaz
The big to do about this album is the fact that the band's NOT REAL people.
(you would not believe how many people still "don't get it")

Union 13
( East Los Presents &
Why are we destroying ourselves)
good punk. angry punk.

Duke Ellington (Money Jungle)
cool fusionesque jazz album.

Fight Club (OMPS)
The Dust Brothers are very cool. and this soundtrack
(done completeley by them) is a testimony to that.
<OMPS stands for Original Motion Picture Score.>
(buscuit eaters.)

Voodoo Glow Skulls ( Who is? This is?, Baile de Los Locos, & The Band Geek Mafia)
Ska done with heart. Fun, angry, and entertaining.

Akira (symphonic suite)
Wonderful orchestrated soundtrack,
 to an awesome movie.

Portishead (Dummy)
most people find thier work depressing.
But I hear it as a sort of neo-blues. no?

The Yu.F.O. Projeckt: (
